Court Support Program

We know how complex, stressful and overwhelming the court process can be, especially for individuals who are experiencing domestic violence and abuse.

Rowan House Society’s Court Support Program offers information and support to assist the clients of our various programs in developing a better understanding of family law matters and protection orders, while ensuring individuals are provided with wraparound support. The Court Support Worker will discuss the risks and benefits of each type of order to ensure individuals are making the best choice for themselves and their families.

Please call or text our 24-Hour Support Line at 403-652-3311, or email courtsupport@rowanhouse.ca to begin the referral and consent process.

The Court Support Worker can provide:

  • information about court

  • navigation and understanding of legal options

  • emotional support and safety planning

  • accompaniment to court appearances

  • a debrief of outcomes and next steps

  • information and referral to community resources if required

The Court Support Program cannot provide:

  • legal advice

  • support in immigration matters

  • support in appeals or contests with Children Services or Criminal Law

*We will provide referrals where you can receive support in these areas

Please note, the demand for our Court Support Program is very high. Protection Orders and emergencies will be called back as soon as possible. Other court support requests may take up to 5 business days to hear back. Your needs are important to us and we are doing what we can to speed up the process.

The Court Support Program is made possible thanks to funding from
the Alberta Law Foundation.
