How to Help
By Making a Donation
Financial contributions to Rowan House Emergency Shelter are the best way to help as they provide the most flexible and efficient way of helping people. A cash donation allows us to purchase items in bulk and to purchase exactly what we need, when we need it most.

Become a Volunteer
Rowan House is always on the lookout for people able and willing to donate their time to the shelter. Volunteers will be screened, trained, and supervised as they help us to fulfill our mission to educate the community on how to protect ourselves and our children from violence and abuse. If you’re interested in getting involved, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator at email@example.com
Our Wish List
Another way to help Rowan House is by donating an item from our wish list. Please contact our Donations Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org to find out what we need and can accept.
Due to health and safety regulations, all items must be new. We also cannot accept household items or furniture due to space restrictions; however we do have some great partners that would gladly take those items on our behalf.
Bibles for Missions (49 Elizabeth Street, Okotoks) and the Salvation Army Thrift Store (Suite B, 119 Centre Street SE, High River) will accept clothing, housewares and furniture. However they cannot accept washers, dryers, dish washers or mattresses.
Rhoda’s Elegance (14 A 49 Elizabeth Street, Okotoks), Coco Rouge (Suite 251, 200 Southridge Drive, Okotoks) and Vespucci Consignment (111 3 Ave SE, High River) will take gently used clothing. Please state that your donation is for the Rowan House account as this allows us to build up credit for our residents as the items sell.

At Rowan House Emergency Shelter, we continue to work towards building awareness and education about family violence and the effects it has upon women and their children.
This is achieved through community partnerships. Community partnerships and donations allows Rowan House to provide additional supports to families victimized by family violence.
Education and awareness about the cycle of abuse, as well as the effects that abuse has upon families, are essential to our work at Rowan House Emergency Shelter.
We continue to strive toward increasing our involvement with schools, community groups, agencies, and media in order to provide the best possible information and education with regard to family violence.
